Kliff Kingsbury made it back to his old stomping grounds. And it looks like he'll be staying for a while.

Kingsbury touched down at Chaparral Jet Center with Texas Tech athletic director Kirby Hocutt around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday night and gave a press conference to reporters.

Hocutt said the two parties agreed to a 4-year deal.

The former All-Big 12 quarterback will be the next head coach for the Red Raiders. A formal announcement of the hiring will be made on the Tech campus Friday.

This season, Kingsbury served as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M. In his first season in College Station, the New Braunfels native oversaw an offense that averaged nearly 45 points a game and produced Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.

Prior to his stint at A&M, Kingsbury served as an assistant at Houston.

During his playing career in Lubbock, Kingsbury racked up over 12,000 yards passing and by the time his tenure at Tech was finished he owned 39 school records.
