Students around campus getting ready for their last few finals were excited about the arrival of Kliff Kingsbury as the new head coach.

Many students said when they heard Kingsbury's name come up early on in the search, they were excited and hoping to have him return to the team.

"I had been hoping for him all along, so I guess I got what I had hoped for," said one student as he finished up studying for finals.

That excitement was on display Wednesday night as hundreds of students gathered in Memorial Circle for the ringing of the Victory Bells.

Many students said they feel Kingsbury will be a way to bring the fan base together.  "I like that he is a Texas Tech alumni and player, and I think that's kind of what Texas Tech needs right now," said another student Wednesday.

As the bells rang, students and alums threw their guns up and shouted 'Raider Power!'.

Tommy Tuberville resigned Saturday, and one student said he would have liked Kingsbury to have been announced earlier. "I'm happy, I would have liked to name a head coach Monday," he said.
