LISD said they ask all visitors to enter through the main doors and sign in with the front desk.

They also said that all teachers and staff members are trained to stop any person who comes into the school without a visitor's pass or LISD badge.

Nancy Sharp with LISD said they constantly work to improve the school safety to ensure the safety of their students. "Schools are much safer than they were just a few years ago, with the procedures we're in the process of implementing, that they will be safer in January than they were this past January," said Sharp.

Sharp is referring to what she told KLBK was a new system, put in on each campus.

The system should be fully implemented and online in January, which will improve safety even more.  Sharp released little details as she wants to first let parents know about these new procedures.

"We've been a little bit vague about the information because we do want that to go to parents, and not to be available for public consumption because that does compromise our safety," said Sharp.

All of the changes coming in are for the safety of the students. "That they are good procedures about what to do to keep our kids safe, because obviously that's our first priority," said Sharp.
