The Red Cross, along with the South Plains Electrical Cooperative and Lubbock County Emergency Management set up a warming station at 5110 54th Street Friday night.

It's a place for people who lost power in Friday night's storms to spend time warming up in these cold temperatures.

The center opened at 9 p.m. Friday and will stay open through the night.  Bill Curnow with the Red Cross said they would stay open longer depending on need.

The warming station has a place for people to sit and hang out.  No pets are permitted except for service animals.

Curnow also encouraged those who know someone without power to tell them about the warming station, or at the very least check in on those who lost power.
