A list has been released from the Texas Attorney General's office of 78 schools not in compliance with school safety measures and Levelland ISD was on it.

"I was quiet shocked today when I received the word that Levelland ISD was on that list," said interim superintendent Kelly Baggett.

"This district is very important to me and the image that we portray is very important," he continued, "and we want to make sure that our citizens and our community know that were going to do everything that we can and do it right."

Baggett has been with Levelland ISD for 35 years and said their name should not be on that list.

"I'm just very upset about this, but I feel good that I can produce the documentation to clear Levelland ISD" he said.

Public schools across Texas were required to report to the schools board of trustees the finding of a safety audit and to submit a questionnaire to the Texas School Safety Center, both of which Baggett said they did and he has the proof.

"I thought maybe I neglected to do something," said Baggett, "but when you got the confirmations in front of you you've got the board report the agenda that you can produce I just don't know, I don't have any answers for that, but it's just so upsetting to think that Levelland ISD is on that list."

Baggett said he wants parents to know he's working to get their schools name off that list immediately.

"We'll get this straightened out it's just a matter of making the proper phone calls," he said, "the good thing is that we have the documentation to approve and confirm we are in compliance."

Denver City and Borden County ISD's were also found on that list.
