The U.S. job market is showing some resilience in a number of reports ahead of today's employment report. The most encouraging came from payroll provider ADP, who added 215,000 jobs last month, a far higher number than November's total of 148,000.

ABC News has learned that former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly plan to visit Newtown, Conn., today. Giffords and Kelly will meet privately with families affected by the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Toyota and Audi are throwing their hats in the ring as potential suppliers of self-driving cars, according to The Wall Street Journal. Both auto companies confirmed Thursday that they will be demonstrating self-driving vehicles at the upcoming Consumer Electronics show.
5. River Otter Makes Rare Appearance in San Francisco
A river otter has made San Francisco its home for the first time in decades, shacking up in the ruins of a 19th century seaside bath near the Golden Gate Bridge. At one time, river otters were popular in the Bay Area, but were nearly wiped out in the 19th and 20th centuries.
