Shulenberger Named Associate Head Coach

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas
Tech head soccer coach Tom Stone announced
Tuesday the hiring of Todd Shulenberger to
the program's associate head coaching position.
Shulenberger,
a veteran in the collegiate
soccer coaching ranks, spent the previous four seasons at the University
of Missouri and brings with him a distinguished recruiting background
to the South Plains.
"I want to thank Tom
Stone,
Kirby Hocutt and Judi Henry for this opportunity to be a member of the
Red Raider family," Shulenberger said. "Tom and his staff have this
program on the rise, and the support from the university and the
community is outstanding. I was very impressed
with the players I was able to meet, and in particular the leadership
displayed by the captains during my discussions about the team. Tom and I
have worked together in the past, so when this opportunity became open
it made sense to my family and for my career."
Shulenberger
arrives at Texas Tech after
guiding Missouri to an NCAA Tournament berth last season and helping the
Tigers advance to the semifinals of the SEC Tournament. He replaces
Aaron Gordon who served on the Red Raider staff from 2007-12, and was
named the head coach of the Mississippi State
soccer program in December.
During
Shulenberger's impressive tenure
in Columbia, Mo., the Tigers captured the program's first-ever Big 12
regular season championship in 2009 while Shulenberger assembled several
of the top recruiting classes in school history - including the 2010
class which ranked in the top-10 nationally.
His renowned recruiting efforts brought elite players from across the
U.S. and Canada to the Midwest, including three U.S. National Team
players and a Canadian National Team player.
Shulenberger joins a Texas Tech program
that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and returns three All-Big 12 First Team selections next season.

recruiting network are both well known in the college game, and through
the years his teams have always played at a championship level. We look
forward to having Todd, Christy and the Shulenberger

2013."
Prior
to his four-year stint at Missouri,
Shulenberger spent two seasons at Clemson where he also served as the
recruiting coordinator while maintaining the program's budget and
serving as an assistant director for the Clemson camp program. While at
Clemson, Shulenberger guided the Tigers to the second
round of the NCAA Tournament in 2007.
Shulenberger
also has a wealth of coaching
experience at the club level having served as the Director of Coaching
for the elite TopHat Soccer Club in Atlanta, Ga., where he helped guide
teams to a handful of state and regional championships.
From
2003-04, Shulenberger was an assistant
women's soccer coach at Georgia State University in Atlanta. While
working with the Panthers' program, he prepared and conducted practices
and assisted in games while also assisting with many recruiting
functions and organizing the team's travel.
Shulenberger
graduated from Robert Morris
University with a bachelor's degree in marketing in 1994 where he was a
member of the Colonial soccer team from 1990-94 and led the 1993 squad
to an NCAA Division I Tournament appearance.
Shulenberger played professionally for
the Canton Invaders of the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) in Canton, OH from 1994-96.
Shulenberger and his wife Christy were
married in 2006. The couple has two daughters, Kyla and Camryn and a son, Owen.
