According to Plainview Superintendent Dr. Ron Miller, Kayna Cardy resigned Friday.

On Thursday, during a search, a drug dog found a 'usable amount of marijuana' in Cardy's car.

The police report from Plainview PD states Cardy was found in possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana in her car.  The car was at the school, which is a drug free zone.

Cardy was arrested Thursday, and resigned from her position on Friday.

Dr. Miller also said these searches are contracted to happen 60 times a year.  He also said they have been doing these checks for about 20 years.

"It  just continues to floor me, that you think they would learn from other situations over the state and the nation that this still happens," said Dr. Miller about teachers across the country still being busted for drugs.

Some parents we spoke to said they are happy the random searches happen, as an effort to keep drugs out of schools.

Dr. Miller hopes this will be a case to show others not to try to bring drugs around and not get caught. "From what's happened before, here we have another example of kind of a case of, 'I won't get caught', and they do get caught," said Dr. Miller.
