Texas Tech women's tennis takes season opener

Lubbock, Texas - No. 21 Texas Tech cruised to a 6-1 victory over Denver on Saturday at Lubbock Country Club in the season opener.
Texas Tech started the day with a sweep of doubles, led by the No. 33 tandem of Rashmi Teltumbde and Nikki Sanders, who cruised past Mandy van den Erenbeent and Emma Isberg, 8-2.
The All-Big 12 doubles team of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo cruised past Sophia Bergner and Staffi Rath, 8-2, while Elizabeth Ullathorne and Caroline Starck topped Caroline Schnell and Charlotte Derbyshire, 8-6.
Kilgo then game Texas Tech a 2-0 lead after topping Schnell, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Denver's Bergner answered the point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over No. 49 Adams.
The Lady Raiders then rolled to four straight points to close out the match, as Teltumbde, Ullathorne, Sandra Dynka and Starck picked up wins.
The Lady Raiders return to action against No. 29 Rice next Saturday in Waco at the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
