A family of eight from the Beaumont -Port Arthur area is struggling tonight as they try to find evacuee aid in Lubbock. The family all piled into one car and made the 13 hour trip from the Gulf Coast to Lubbock. They were told there would be a shelter in Lubbock, but the large FEMA-sponsored shelter wasnt able to be opened for so few people. The Salvation Army has been able to offer the family meals, but help from FEMA is slow in coming and the Lubbock Red Cross is following a national standard that says all they can do at this time is refer families back to the Salvation Army and FEMA for assistance. Says Wayne Frasier, "Whats really hurting me is my kids, not having a place over their head, not having food to eat, its real depressing. My little babys sick, I just dont know what to do. We just need help."
