Tech Students Debate the Possibility of Making Campus Smoke-Free

By: Ashley Hinson
Updated: January 22, 2013
The Student Government Association held the first of two town hall meetings Tuesday in the Student Union building at 6 p.m., to hear how students feel about making Texas Tech smoke-free.

Students were very outspoken on what they think about that potential ban.

Some said it's needed so that others don't reap the effects from second hand smoke while others questioned their freedom of choice saying there are other problems the university should focus on.

One thing both sides agreed on was that a compromise is going to be necessary for anything to get accomplished.

The debate will continue this Thursday during another town hall meeting at 2 p.m. in the Mesa room of the Student Union building.  All students, faculty and staff are invited.
