If you're looking to buy a home realtors are saying now is the perfect time.  Interest rates are extremely low right now and contractors are busy building.

This is creating more homes to choose from in the Lubbock area for people looking to buy.
Vice President of the Homebuilders Association, Larry Driskill said that they are building more homes this year than they have in a long time.

"I'm real optimistic about 2013  partly because of the Lubbock economy and the fact that there's a shortage of new housing because we didn't build as many as we might have there for a while," said Driskill.

With the current state the economy is in, realtors say it is an opportune time for those looking to purchase a house and start fresh.

Lindsey Bartley, a local realtor, said it's actually a great time for both buyers and sellers
"This past December we're up fifty percent on homes that are under contract compared to last December, which hopefully that's a great indicator that we are going to have an amazing 2013," said Bartley.

But you if you are looking to buy, Bartley said you better do it sooner than later because prices are expected to inflate in the upcoming months.

Both Bartley and Driskill said that it's definitely a buyers and sellers market.
