It's the one place you can have it all -- literally.  Rides, concerts, livestock shows,   and practically any food you can think of… Fried!

Of course we're talking about the South Plains Fair, officially kicking off this weekend.  The gates just opened for tonight's big kickoff preview for the 2008 year.

Folks were out all day Thursday getting ready for the crowds.  Tonight -- it's the preview special... that means free parking and admission and all the rides are only $1 each.

This year you can expect the same entertainment the fair provides every year... and as folks gear up for all of that later in the week, here’s what you can look forward to. Make sure you check out the livestock shows and craft fairs, concerts throughout the week feature big names like the Gin Blossoms, James Otto, and Los Palominos, plus some local talents.

Now as far as parking goes -- get here early and plan for some walking.

Fair officials say after nearly year-round planning, they can't wait for 2008.

Herb Higgs, South Plains Fair Manager: "We're ready, and we want everyone to join us in a family affordable situation, uh, and come have a good time the 19th through the 27th."

For all the information you need, the fair’s website is www.southplainsfair.com.

There they've got brochures and books on everything that's going on.
