Emergency crews crowded the scene of an accident involving a Slaton school bus and a pick-up at Highway 84 and FM 835.

13 children were on the school bus. Three children, ages 6, 8 and 14 were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The two drivers in the pickup truck were also taken to UMC with non-life threatening injuries.

The accident happened just after 4:30pm Tuesday. Authorities at the scene said the school bus driver did not see the approaching truck as the driver tried to make a left turn onto the highway.

The bus driver was cited for failure to yield at a stop sign to on-coming traffic.

The pickup truck did roll over after striking the bus.

A second school bus was sent to transport the uninjured students away from the scene.

The access roads of Highway 84 were closed in both directions and traffic diverted while authorities cleaned up the scene.
