Required Background Checks For Firearms Down
President Obama's push for stronger gun control has the demand for guns across the country continuing to rise. But during this firearm buying spree, the FBI has actually seen a decrease of background check to purchase. KLBKS Brittany Escobar tells us why.

At local gun shop LSG Tactical, owner Steve Burns said required federal background checks to purchase firearms are down because there are no guns to sell.
According to the FBI last month's check numbers were down from December by ten percent.
Numbers showed January came in behind December, as the second highest request for background check out of the entire year.
Burns said those numbers show the demand for guns is still up, leaving him and other gun shops across the country struggling to meet the demand.
Unfortunately I can not give any official ETAs to any of my customers," said Burns, "it's a real shame that we can't, but that's just the nature of things right now."
He explained anyone wanting to purchase a firearm must first complete a federal background check before the buy.
Most of the check decreases are coming from the southern states including Texas.
"Those checks have gone down a little," said Burns, "but that's strictly because the availability of the product has gone down."
Burns said manufactures were at maximum production making firearms before gun control came to the forefront, but now he says all the talk is just causing them to have to place things on back order, with some firearms sitting on a waiting list of up to 2 years.
