Friendship Students Get First Hand Look at Texting Dangers

A group of local teenagers got a first hand look at the dangers that come with texting and driving. The kids at Friendship High School sat in a simulator.
It gives you a good view of what its going to be like on the road., said Jonothan Tulloh a student at Friendship .
Hundreds of students at Friendhsip High School attended the "It Can Wait" seminar sponsored by AT&T. The goal of the seminar was to show kids texting and driving is just as bad as drinking and driving.
"All of us have the attitude we're invincible. if we can show these kids it can happen to them and possibly save a life then it's been a worthwhile day," said Cameron Monroe, the Director of External Affairs at AT&T.
And students at Friendship seemed to get the message.
"It's really important because a lot of people text and drive and they don't realize what can happen unexpectedly," said Ricky Alvaredo, a student at Friendship.
Monroe said that the message the simulation and video is trying to drive home is that there is no text important enough that it can't wait.
