Construction Traps Woman in Home

Headache is an understatement for residents in a North Lubbock neighborhood.
Residents say it's a nightmare and for Julia Garcia, who's in a wheelchair, the construction mess and current weather have now turned into a health concern for her.
"We have to go through the alley and that makes it hard," said Garcia.
Garcia has been traipsing through her alley the past two weeks as the city tears up her street to install drainage pipes.
Garcia said it's been hard.
"I have to have dialysis," said Garcia, "I go three times a week."
Three times a week, Garcia has had to use the alley to get in and out of her house because of construction, but on Tuesday morning Garcia said she was literally stuck at her home.
"We went towards the car but we got stuck," she said, "So, we had to come back in."
Garcia said if it weren't for the construction it would not have been a problem because her wheel chair ramp leads right to her drive way, which is now blocked by construction.
"She missed her dialysis today," said her brother Tony Lopez, "She can't be missing that."
Lopez said that's when he called KLBK News looking for help, because he knows these appointments are a matter of life or death for his sister.
"It concerns me," said Lopez.
Now Garcia's just looking for any help she can get.
"It would be a lot of help if they could put something to where we could get out," she said, "I don't know if they can do that or not."
After talking to the contractor about Garcia's problem he tells KLBK News he is personally going to do his very best to make sure she never misses a dialysis appointment again.
