"I don't look at Brownfield as in the middle of a boom," Timmons said.

Buzz Timmons with the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce doesn't want his town to boom-he wants it to grow.

"We are more like a locomotive and we are getting rolling," Timmons said. "That is going to be a sustainable economy, booms come and go ."

One of those sustainable industries is oil distribution- and one company, Mecuria, just made Brownfield its' new home.

"They have distribution centers in the Midland area," Timmons said.  "But needed something more north to do distribution up here."

But the city did not petition for the business- the company wanted to be in Brownfield.

"The reason they picked Brownfield is because we have a railroad," Timmons said. "And if you are going to do anything with rail you need to be here."

While there is not a lot of drilling going on in Terry County- Brownfield is gaining another business thanks to the oil industry.

"We have Spinco who just opened up here in Brownfield," Timmons said. "They are a guar,  its an ag product like a grain, they are taking the guar product and they are refining it and turning it into fracking material."

More business means more lodging- a national hotel chain just purchased a plot of land in the city.

But there is one more business the city is very excited for.

"It's not going to be a winery but its going to be a grape crusher ," Timmons said.

Grape production is nothing new for Brownfield-they produce 80% of the grapes used to make Texas wine-but the city is happy about getting another piece of the billion dollar industry.

Timmons said he hopes the efforts they make now will help the city thrive for several more years.

"Hopefully what we are doing is gaining sustainable industries and businesses," Timmons said.  Because the shipping of oil is going to always be needed-Mecuria could be here forever. Fracking like it or not is going to be a thing of the future."
