The City of Lubbock is warning of a rabid skunk found in Northeast Lubbock.

Animal Control says an employee of a local business spotted the skunk outside, barely moving, and reported it.

The Animal Control officer that responded, found the skunk had moved to the other end of the building, but again, barely able to move.

The animal was sent to the state lab for testing.

The skunk tested positive for rabies.

Another skunk was also found dead outside the same business in the following days.

The city reports that six cats may have been exposed.

This is the first case of rabies in Lubbock this year.
