Former Tech Administrator Accused of Sexual Harassment now at ASU

Texas Tech Regents met in executive session on Thursday, and sources tell KAMC 28, the regents planned to discuss the future of a former Tech Administrator, accused of sexual harassment.
Robert Shindell resigned his position as Texas Tech Vice President of Recruiting and Admissions back in June. KAMC 28 sources tell us he was forced out, after the university settled, out of court, with a former co-worker. The female colleague accused him of touching her inappropriately and an investigator found Shindell did violate university policy when it came to sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. Shindell is now stirring up some controversy because this fall the President of Angelo State University hired him as a special assistant to the provost and ASU is part of the Texas Tech System. Sources say the Tech officials have received several complaints from concerned citizens who think it is wrong that a man accused of sexual harassment at Tech is still employed by the school, just at a different campus. Our sources tell us the regents discussed terminating Shindell, but so far the regents aren’t talking. Both Scott Dueser, the chairman of the Tech regents, and Tech Chancellor Kent Hance declined to comment on the issue. They say they are not allowed to talk about personnel issues or anything they discuss in executive sessions.
Our sources say some of the top administrators at Tech are keeping Shindell employed in the Tech system so, he doesn’t air their so-called “dirty laundry.” The President at Angelo State says he was not pressured by any Tech officials to hire Shindell. The school hired him because they believe he has the experience necessary to recruit new students to their school.
