A man who broke into a house near Slaton late Saturday night ended up being airlifted to the hospital after being shot in the leg by the home's owner.

Police were called to the house, in the 6000 block of County Road 7920 near Slaton, around 10:30 Saturday night.

We're told the homeowner heard someone come in the house and thought it was one of his three children. After checking his kid's rooms, though, he realized an intruder was inside his house.

The homeowner held the intruder at gunpoint in his dining room until the suspect made a sudden move towards the homeowner's wife, which is when he was shot in the leg.

The suspect continued to run towards his vehicle outside, but passed out in the lawn.

Video from the scene shows the suspect being airlifted from the scene.
