Authorities Shut Down Brownfield Highway Due to Poor Road Conditions

By: Newsroom
Updated: February 25, 2013

Due to hazardous weather conditions officials have closed US 62, from Lubbock to the city of Brownfield, to all traffic. TxDOT's maintenance crews will continue with their winter weather plowing operations on US 62 in Lubbock and Terry counties.

I-27, north of Lubbock to Amarillo, remains closed to traffic. Parts of the roadway remain impassable.

Motorists are strongly discouraged--for their safety--from traveling in the South Plain and Texas Panhandle due to today's extremely dangerous conditions. Strong winds producing blowing snow continue to create near zero visibility conditions.
