While conditions improved throughout the aftrenoon, earlier today we found dozens of stranded motorists around Lubbock. Many said they've never seen snow like this and were totally unprepared for these driving conditions.

"We were doing fine and then I stopped and we got stuck," said Jacob Birdwell.

Birdwell says it took only seconds for his truck to get stuck in the snow.

"I thought it would be cool to take a picture and I let my truck sit and it just sunk," said Birdwell.

He wasn't alone, there was a huge line of cars halted by snow drifts.

"It's a mad house out here, obviously its a blizzard. Its crazy cold, the snow has been piling up and cars are stuck all along 19th right here," said Stewart Freiner, a Tech student. "My car is actually stuck right behind us its an Acura and I helped two cars push out there was a mustang so it was pretty low to the ground, stuck pretty good."

Freiner helped push other cars out while he waited for help with his own trapped car. He says he was lucky to find people to help him out in the storm.

"Yeah it's definitely a moment where I guess the city kind of comes and joins in comradery and tries to help each other out. I had actually never met Jake before today so it's kind of where everyone lends a helping hand," said Freiner.

Many of the motorists we found stuck on 19th St were Texas Tech students. The university has announced a delay tomorrow morning until 11 am.
