In 1994, Ivey was found stabbed in a laundromat on 34th Street. No arrests were made at the time.
Then, in 2010, evidence was re-ran, and a DNA match was found.
That match was Kerry Don Williams, who was already serving time in Amarillo for aggravated sexual assault in 2003.
Lubbock Police said Williams was never a person of interest in the case.
In 2011, Williams was indicted in the murder.
Williams was in court Monday, and the prosecutor asked Ivey's daughter if she had ever seen Williams' with her mother, and Ivey's daughter said she never did.
