"It'll be nice, I can have a screwdriver and be able to check my equipment when I get there and that kind of thing," Harrison said. "So yea I am ok with it."

Some happy travelers at the Lubbock Airport Wednesday morning-after TSA's announcement lifting restrictions for banned carry-on items."

"Personally I don't have a problem with it," Ray said.

Effective April 25th passengers will be allowed to carry knives with a blade smaller than 6 centimeters.

Passengers will also be allowed to carry sporting equipment such as golf clubs and hockey sticks.

"My golf clubs still wont fit in the carry on bags so I am still going to check that," Ray said.

"It wont affect me at all I ski but I carry my skis in my ski bag and I don't own a knife," Finder said.

The new may not be a big deal for some travelers, but Sammy Ray said after ten years it was time for a change.

"II think the main goal here is safety," Ray said. "There is a lot smarter people than me and you and the people that talk about this, that monitor air traffic and how things are handled."

TSA may have relaxed their rules on small knives but some regulations like taking off shoes and limiting liquids aren't going anywhere.

"A blade is different than a bottle of shampoo because of the explosives people can make based off of liquid," Ray said. "I doubt that those will be lifted."

But many said the issue could be fixed with better technology.

"Maybe one day if scan systems get better or whatever," Harrison said.  "I still don't know why we are taking our shoes off."

"I think with new technology, I think the shoe technology there ought to be ways to test shoes for explosives," Finder said.

As happy as he is about the change videographer Ted Harrison does not think they will last.

"Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this gets changed back again," Harrison said. "All it would take is one more incident for things to tighten back up again."
