"With the sneezing, the itchy eyes, the watery eyes, all of that," said Linda Gutierrez, whose children suffer from seasonal allergies.
She makes sure they stay ahead of the symptoms. "Usually they take their medicine in the morning, before we head out, and make sure we have tissues with me, because they're always just like sneezing," said Gutierrez.
Doctor Goutam Shome, an allergist at Covenant, said for those with mild allergies, over the counter medications will work, but sometimes there's little you can do.
"Those with allergies to the trees grass and weeds, it's almost impossible to avoid them all together," said Dr. Shome.
He suggests keeping doors and windows closed, and use the air conditioners, while trying to keep your place clean, because some pollen may still get inside.
"If you keep the doors and windows closed, you can still have significant pollen inside the house, just from re-circulation of the air that goes on in any air system," said Dr. Shome.
He also suggests if your allergies worsen, or if over the counter medications aren't working as well, you should try to see a specialist to see if there's alternative treatment.
