Lubbock Christian (Texas) punched its ticket to the quarterfinals for the third-straight season with a 93-69 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) Friday night at the 2013 NAIA Division I National Championship. The Lady Chaparrals will play the winner of Cumberland (Tenn.) and Benedictine (Kan.) at 8 p.m. EDT on Saturday.

Lubbock Christian, a 2012 semifinalist, set a program single-game record with a 68.5 percent (37-of-54) shooting night, including a 21-for-28 (75 percent) performance in the second half. Additionally, the Lady Chaparrals converted 43.8 percent (7-of-16) beyond the arc and 75 percent (12-of-16) at the free throw line.

Nicole Hampton, who recorded her first career triple-double in Lubbock Christian's first round win against Southern-New Orleans, again led the squad with 23 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Kelsey Canavan also tallied 20-plus points with a 21 point effort, including 13 points in the second half.

Lubbock Christian seized control of the first half when Haley Fowler sparked a 14-2 run that spanned four minutes to propel the Lady Chaparrals to a 29-13 lead. Georgetown cut the deficit in half with eight-straight points of their own. The Tigers continued to chip away at the Lubbock Christian advantage, pulling within two, 36-34, with 2:53 remaining. The Lady Chaparrals added a Courtney Wilson jumper and a pair of free throws from Kelsey Canavan en route to a 40-34 halftime lead.

Georgetown came as close as eight points, 49-41, early in the second half when Kourtney Tyra found Devon Golden for one of her game-high nine assists. However, the hot shooting by the Lady Chaparrals proved too much for the Tigers. Lubbock Christian reached 20 points with a little under five minutes left in the game.

Lizza Jonas and Devon Golden paced Georgetown with 14 points each. Golden also led the team with nine rebounds. As a team, the Tigers shot 36.2 percent (25-of-69) from the field.
Georgetown ends its season with a 23-10 record.
