A winery may not be the first place you think of for St. Patrick's Day, but Caprock Winery decided to get into the holiday spirit with green wine.

"St Patty's is the best day for any kind of alcohol drinker, green beer we cant do beer here, but we can do green wine for sure," said Leah Yancey, a manager at Caprock Winery.

Yancey says it was easy to convince the winery's new owners to get into the St. Patrick's Day spirit for the first time.

"I sent the one of them a message saying hey can we do green wine, I've got green food coloring it would be fun and he said sure go for it, roll with it so I think its been a hit," said Yancey.

"We just came out for St Patrick's Day and then we heard that the wine turned green out here so we just came to check it out," said Craig Ratliff, who went to Caprock for St. Patrick's Day.

He says the green wine was a welcome surprise for their holiday celebration.

"It had little tints of green to it, yeah it was good," he said, "Its always a great day to celebrate and it was a great day for Ireland."

But Yancey says other customers weren't expecting their wine to be green.

"Shocked at first, and then pleasantly thrilled I think. Its a good holiday and green wine is not something that you really experience very often," said Yancey.

Yancey says since the green wine has been a huge hit, she hopes to continue the green wine on St. Patrick's Days in future years.
