Sugary drinks, like soda, may be linked to about 180,000 deaths every year.
Researchers studied global data from 2010 and found more than 130,000 deaths were linked to diabetes, 44,000 to heart disease and 6,000 to cancer.
The deaths were mostly in low and middle-income countries.
In the U.S., about 25,000 deaths were linked to drinking sugary beverages.
