"I would guess well over a $1,000 with the wheels and
tires," Jacks said.
That is how much money Harvey Jacks said he lost
Thursday when his chrome wheels and tires were stolen.
"He told me had been stolen and they couldn't be
located anywhere in the shop," Jacks said.
Jacks said the tires on his chrome rims were worn out.
He wanted to switch them with some tires he already had.
So, he dropped them off at York Tires on 34th
st.
"The guy who always does the work on our wheels
happened to be available right there," Jacks said. "I asked him what it would
cost to swap those tires out onto the other rims and he told me twenty dollars."
Jacks said he paid the man but did not ask for a
receipt.
He said when he came back an hour later, the old tires
were there but his chrome rims were no where to be found.
"I am pretty frustrated to be quite honest ma'am,"
Jacks said.
And the frustration did not stop there.
Jacks said the situation became worse when he went
inside to talk to management.
"He said we don't have a ticket on that that must have
been something Adam was doing on the side," Jacks said. "I asked him if Adam
was indeed an employee of his. He said
yes. So I didn't understand how they wouldn't be liable for wheels that one of
their employees was working on."
Jacks called the police but they told him it was a
civil matter and there was nothing they could do.
We called the store's management about Jacks
claims-but they declined to comment.
"I think a business as big as
York Tires would kind of bend over backwards to replace something like that,"
Jacks said.
