The Victim of a Senseless Murder: Don McCullough

Don McCullough's former coworkers were devastated when they heard the news of his murder. They said it's been an incredibly long day. Colonel Don McCullough spent almost 30 years in the Air Force, serving the United States in Vietnam. It was a career that shaped his demeanor, but one that couldn't hide his warm heart. Says Richard Waite, "He was pretty tough, military, a colonel, but he would just really do anything for you had you needed something done."
A family man who would do anything and help anyone, it seemed to be his life's calling...a life cut short when he was doing that very thing, helping out a man who looked like he needed water, a man who would later come back and take his life..but it was a life that many won't soon forget, one dedicated to others:
"Without a doubt, it was not about Don McCullough, it was about the people in his life and the people that were around him," says former colleague Lisa Spears. Spears was hired by McCullough WorkSource of the South Plains, an organization focused on helping others find jobs, and one that McCullough helped build from the ground up. Those who knew him say he was a hard worker, at the office before everyone else and there long after dark. It was a job that highlighted his selfless nature. Says Spears, "The most compassionate person you would ever meet, the most caring, kind, loving, would give you the shirt off his back...truly a good man." She says you never expect it to happen to someone you know: "Especially not somebody like him. He worked hard to help others because that was his passion."
