Lubbock City Council members say they need more time to decide whether or not to accept a contract with the Texas Tech Hockey Club. Members decided to postpone their vote on the current contract and instead appointed District 3 Councilman Todd Klien to negotiate a new contract. Klein will work with hockey coach Paul Fioroni to see what they can accomplish. Members and fans of the hockey team say they're optimistic about Thursday's decision.
"It's great. It's much better than a no, it gives us a chance to find out what the City Council wants and truly needs from us and gives us a chance to come up with an agreement that's gonna work for both sides," says Tech Hockey Club Announcer Tim Castleman.
Tech Hockey plays this Monday night at 7 o'clock. As a way to give back and thank the community for their support during this struggle, admission will only be three dollars.
