After the recent incident where a parent pulled out a gun at a youth soccer game, we spoke to coaches about the meaning of sportsmanship at these events. We spoke to a coach from the Lubbock Soccer Association and one from Western Little League.
Both say they've seen plenty of heated parents at youth games, no matter what sport it is. They say many times parents get too wrapped up in winning, and they lose focus on what's most important -- the kids enjoying their sport. They encourage all parents to remember to use good sportsmanship and to set good examples for their kids at athletic events.
