Three missing children are now safe in police custody tonight. Police issued a local amber alert Monday evening for the kids. Their parents gave consent for the children to travel with 41-year-old Kenneth Wilcox, but he never returned as promised on Sunday evening.
Then Monday night around 11:30 PM, McCurtain County Sheriff's deputies in Oklahoma found the 8-year-old boy and his 14-year-old friend at Wilcox's cousin's house. After getting information from the kids, they found Wilcox and the 11-year-old girl in a highway checkpoint near Shinewell, Oklahoma.
Captain Greg Stevens says they want to make the investigation as easy as they can on the children.
"They want to question children as few times as possible and so when and where that occurs, I'm not sure but certainly part of the investigation will be focused on what's occurred since they left Lubbock."
Wilcox is now being held in the McCurtain County Jail on felony aggravated kidnapping charges. His bond is set at $750,000 dollars.
