Elderly Victims Take the Stand in Burglary Trial

The elderly couple who fought back against a home intruder testified in the suspect's trial on Tuesday. 31-year-old Eric Deleon is accused of breaking into Tom and Kathy Ritter's home in Ransom Canyon back in March, 2006.
He's claiming insanity as his defense. On Tuesday, the couple took the stand describing what happened. They say they were asleep when Deleon broke in through their bedroom window. They say he stabbed Tom in the chest, so Kathy got her gun out of the nightstand and shot Deleon. His family says he's a diagnosed schizophrenic and his mental problems led him to commit the crime. The trial continues tomorrow.
