Ballots to win the most prestigious award in college football are out, and for the first time ever, Texas Tech has two men vying for the prize. The Heisman Trophy is presented to the best player in college football, and both Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree could win the award. If one of them does, the Tech community would get a lot of attention on a national level.
"It's not only good for Texas Tech football but athletics. Then it trickles down to the university, to the city of Lubbock, to West Texas, so everybody's benefiting from this," says Assistant Athletics Director Chris Cook.
The Heisman presentation dinner will be on Monday, December 15th, but we'll find out who wins the award on Saturday the 13th.
A frightened dog was rescued on Sunday from a guardrail along a busy
highway. Animal Care Services said the pit bull-type dog was found
padlocked with a weighted chain to the guardrail on the I-10 access road
near West Avenue.
Students returned to class in Cleburne Monday, five days after a tornado
severely damaged two school buildings. Strong winds from the powerful
EF3 twister ripped away part of the roof at Gerard Elementary School.

School, which has gone from a search-and-rescue operation to a
body-recovery effort, officials said.
It's shaping up to be another difficult summer for the Texas power
grid. A national nonprofit has projected that the Texas grid will have
the lowest percentage of power reserves this summer of any region of the
country. Next summer could also be tougher than the grid operator
