Expansion at The Jones

Updated: December 1, 2008
Funds are in and now 'The Jones' is set for a little renovation and expansion. Texas Tech raised nine million dollars in just six weeks, completing the university's fund raising campaign for stadium expansion. Construction will start Monday morning and the building is expected to be ready for the 2010 football season. Tech officials say this expansion will make The Jones one of the best and brightest stadiums in the Big Twelve Conference.

"Your football program, your sports program, is really the front door to the university and our front door really looks good now," says Chancellor Kent Hance.

Chancellor Hance hopes that expanding The Jones will attract more fans and students. University officials are still planning for the next phase of expansion on the north end.
