At least one Lubbock charity is feeling the negative reprucussions of the current economic crisis.

The Salvation Army has seen a drastic increase in the number of Lubbock families requesting their help this holiday season.

So far, 200 more families than last year have registered with the Salvation Army and even more concerning, donations are down 33%.

Major Branscum with the Salvation Army says he is concerned with the lack of donations this holiday season.

"It's one of those things, when the economy gets bad, we get busier and we see more people and we need the money more and of course we worry about it because that money is not there," Major Branscum says.

Major Branscum says if the Salvation Army doesn't see the donations they need, they will have to look at cutting services to the public.
