Last month he was running for president, and this afternoon, he was in Lubbock. Senator John McCain was the keynote speaker for Texas Tech's commencement ceremony.

Senator McCain really is fresh off the campaign trail, and today he made his first speech since his concessional speech in November, right here at Texas Tech.

In his speech, lasting just under 20 minutes, Senator McCain urged the new graduates -- no matter how they voted in this year's election -- to move on from it as a unified party.

He continued his 'Country First' theme in the speech, speaking of his recent travels overseas that taught him firsthand of what he says is the integrity of the American people.

Many of these graduates out here tell us today's ceremony is made that much more special because of the prominent name, and even though the Senator is from Arizona, there's always room for an honorary Red Raider -- A position he gladly accepted at the beginning of his speech, saying "Go Red Raiders!"

Now Senator McCain did address the fact that he lost this election, but he said he wants everyone to move on from it not as enemies, but as unified Americans.
