A Slaton woman has returned home after weeks of lobbying in Washington D.C. on behalf of car dealerships.
Annette Sykora is the chairperson of National Automobile Dealers Association. For the last three weeks, she has worked with Congress trying pass a bailout for automakers. She says even our stable economy here on the South Plains is seeing the effects of their failure, and she is hoping that on Wednesday, dealers and manufacturers will hear the news they've been waiting for.
"We're sitting on pins and needles waiting. We expect to hear hopefully some really good news tomorrow and when I say good news, we hope that the administration and treasury that they've ironed out all of the details and that we'll have a bridge loan for the carmakers to continue manufacturing cars and to get us into the new year."
