Just months after Highland Medical Center filed for bankruptcy and changed it's name to Doctor's Hospital of Lubbock, there's another change headed for the clinic. This time a big merger between two local medical providers.
We first told you about this merger last night, and today -- the news became official during a press conference that Grace Clinic will combine with Doctor's Hospital to form the new Grace Medical Center.
This type of merger is the first of its kind here in Lubbock, as Grace Clinic -- known for it's innovative concept of 'preventive care' -- now joins the hospital circuit as they take over operation and leadership of Doctor's Hospital.
Grace Medical Center will provide inpatient services, meaning there will be 24-hour care available for surgeries and it also plans on implementing emergency services.
After some rough dealings for Doctor's Hospital the past couple of months, the newly formed team members say the combination should lead to one of the most innovative medical services in the area.
Charley Trimble, Chief Executive Officer: "Tomorrow is a new beginning. Regardless of our past, and our new day tomorrow, we still stand for the values that we have."
Those values include providing high quality services and a dedication to patient experience according to Trimble. Now Grace Medical Center is looking to it's multi-million-dollar facility upgrade currently under construction.
