A Malaysian couple visiting the Hub City for the first time may be stuck here a lot longer than planned, after their ID's and passports were stolen.
Tan Min Chik and his wife Dora came to Lubbock to visit an old friend and were having breakfast at the Golden Corral on the South Loop. Min Chik says he left his backpack on a chair to speak to a group at the restaurant about his Malaysian church. When he returned, his bag was gone, along with their passports, money and laptop.
Now, the couple is hoping a photocopy of Min Chik's passport and a copy of the police report will get them on their Monday morning flight to Colorado. Then they hope to make it to Los Angeles for the Malaysian Embassy to get copies of their passports.
If you have any information, or know anything about their bag, you're asked to call Crimeline at 741-1000. The bag is blue with the company "Allianze Munich" written on the front. The couple says they would just like their passports returned to either the Golden Corral or the Lubbock Police Department.
