Lubbock County officials are investigating an apparent double-murder-suicide that left a prominent local orthodontist, his wife, and his mother-in-law dead inside their Northwest Lubbock homes. The three were found dead around 9:15 Monday morning inside two separate homes just a few miles East of the Reese Center.
Officials say when 65-year-old Dr. Christopher Anderson didn't show up at his orthodontics office Monday morning in Lubbock, his daughter went over to check on him. Inside the home at 8517 County Road 6500, she found both her father, and mother, 65-year-old Elaine Anderson, dead from gun shot wounds. Just minutes later a home health care nurse showed up at the house next door and discovered Elaine's mother, 84-year-old Alice Johnson also shot shot and killed. Officials say initial evidence leads them to believe either Dr. or Mrs. Anderson was the shooter in this case, but they couldn't comment on whether one of them left a suicide note behind.
Now other sources tell us, the Dr. did leave a suicide note behind saying "I don't want to be a financial burden on anyone," but officials have not confirmed that note exists. They say it appears the shootings took place sometime in the last day or so. We'll keep you updated as investigators release new details in this case.
