Residents at Lubbock Square say they are having some serious problems.

In March of 2008 the complex was confiscated by the Federal Government after an investigation into fraud.

The complex was in need of repairs then and residents say the situation is worse now.

Ashley Simmons has lived there for almost a year and has several vacant apartments in her building that are filled with trash and falling apart.

"I don't know what death smells like, but I think that's pretty close to it," said Simmons. "It smells damp and like I need to take a shower after walking past it."

There are also no locks on the vacant apartments and residents fear that homeless people or people with bad intentions could be inside those apartments.

Lubbock Square is one of six apartment complexes that have been confiscated and are now owned by the Feds. The management for Lubbock Square were unavailable for comment.

Here is a list of the six confiscated complexes:

Lubbock Square

Lubbock Preserve at Prairie Point

Town Plaza Lubbock

Lubbock Riviera

Lubbock Treehouse

Lubbock Aspen Village
