Local health clinics are getting pretty busy! Winter weather and drastic temperature fluctuations have slammed The Hub City with illnesses. Several local doctors tell us that the constant changes between warm and cold weather can wreak havoc on the immune system.

They've seen quite a few cases of upper respiratory infections, sinus infections and strep throat, and even the flu has come to town. Pediatricians have also seen an increase in RSV, a respiratory virus that can be very dangerous for small chidlren.

Dr. Nawal Zeitouni explains, "The dreaded RSV, that has been going around and that is basically in adults, cough, cold, runny nose, but when it hits small kids, it causes a lot of chest congestion and wheezing. Kids can be just a little bit of a stuffy nose or they can end up in the hospital on a ventilator with the exact same illness, just depending on how bad it hits them."
