A 60-year-old Lubbock man is behind bars, accused of sexually abusing three girls under the age of fourteen. Roberto Cornejo Garcia is facing one felony count of aggravated sexual assault. Police say last September, three young girls, who are relatives of Garcia, contacted the Children's Advocacy Center and reported he had been touching them inappropriately for months. Detectives investigated the accusations, issued a warrant for his arrest last week, and locked him late Wednesday night. Carmen Aguirre with the Chidlren's Advocacy Center says it's hard for victims of abuse to come forward, so parents need to keep a close eye out for any signs of abuse."Some regressive behavior like wetting the bed again, sucking thumbs again, having a lot of nightmares, phobias, and anxiety. A lot of times if they're becoming very secretive and kind of withdrawn and isolating ... those can all be signs of abuse," says Aguirre.
Garcia remains in the Lubbock County Jail under a $100,000 bond. He has only been officially charged with abusing one of the victims.
