It's the anniversary of Buddy Holly's death.
Half a century after his passing, folks in Lubbock joined together Tuesday to remember the sights and sounds of the great musician.
Tuesday is considered by many, the day the music died.
So it's obvious it marks a special anniversary to so many, especially here in Lubbock where Buddy is from.
At the Buddy Holly Center, admission was free Tuesday and many took advantage.
One couple tells us Buddy was influential for them growing up.
"I was a freshman in college and I woke up in the morning to the news on the clock radio of the plane crash, and it was one of those times you remember from then on," Lubbock resident Dan Howard tells us.
The Buddy Holly Center sponsored several events in Buddy's honor throughout the day.
