The Buddy Holly center offered free admission to the public all day, holding several movie screenings and a panel full of musicians and Buddy's friends. Local residents visited the center to take a look at all the memorabilia and remember the impact Buddy made on music.
We also spoke to some of Buddy's family about what this day means to them. Says Buddy's brother Larry, "It really got me when he got killed I couldn't listen to his music for two years. I think he would've got so big, he'd be the icon of the whole music world."
