DTV Day-After Demand

Folks all over Lubbock scrambled on Tuesday to get a hold of digital converter boxes and antennaes before The Big Switch, but today -- the high demand continues.
Now that the switch has happened and people are realizing it's real, boxes and antennaes are hot commodities as stores all over town sell out again. The demand yesterday was overwhelming for the converter boxes to handle the new digital TV signals. Stores all over sold out Tuesday, some selling as many as a box a minute.
Today - that high demand continues. RadioLab restocked this morning, but sold out by lunchtime. The only store we found that still has plenty is Radio Shack.
They had 350 delivered this morning and say they should be good to go for the rest of the week.
The only problem is that store managers still don't know how much longer the high demand will continue.
Jeff Griffith, RadioLab: "We really don't know how many televisions are hooked up to antennaes, we know how many subscribers and cable subscribers in the Lubbock area, but we did not know how many televisions were not hooked to those."
Alan Pollack, Radio Shack Senior Manager: "If we had had more boxes yesterday, it would've been a lot more yesterday, but we've got for the rest of the week and probably the rest of the month, we could supply Lubbock."
Again, Radio Shack still has plenty, and other stores including RadioLab will have more tomorrow so you should be able to get one by the end of the week. And yes, the government coupons are still valid and can be used for the discount.
