Now that the heated contract negotiations have 'cooled off' enough to sign the deal, it still hasn't stopped folks from sounding off about the whole thing. By now you've heard the local fan response, you've seen the media coverage -- It all goes to show that after an incredible football season for Texas Tech, any indecision is big news -- and not just here in Lubbock.

Ryan Hyatt, Williams and Hyatt Sports Radio: "99% of all the Texas Tech fans wanted Mike Leach to be a part of it, they wanted Mike Leach to want to be a part of the program moving forward, and a deal that would be acceptable to everybody and it looks like that's what happened today, finally."

Finally, after days of back and forth, Coach Mike Leach signed the contract that would keep him here as head coach for Texas Tech.

Hyatt: "For Texas Tech fans, that's all they wanted to see. Was a resolution with Mike Leach."

Ryan Hyatt is the co-host for Williams and Hyatt Sports radio, he says callers have been sounding off all week long.

Hyatt: "I think a lot of people were just stunned that as the week went on, we were rambling down this road to this conclusion, people couldn't believe that Mike Leach might not be here." But the news wasn't a hot topic just in Lubbock... it was national too with even some ESPN coverage. Hyatt says all the media coverage wasn't really necessary, but it just goes to show how Texas Tech has gone from little known -- to a big player in the Big 12.

Hyatt: "It totally dominated the news cycle at a time when you had a really good recruiting class, a signing class that should've been making news, getting ready for spring football. That, that's what we should've been talking about. Not this."

Now the contract spotlight should die down a little for now... Like Hyatt said -- a lot of the folks calling in here locally just glad to see a decision being made and that the decision does include Mike Leach as coach.
